SUMMARY:Deloitte- Trust Under Pressure: Balancing Fraud Prevention and Friction in Insurance Identity Verification
DESCRIPTION:Trust Under Pressure: Balancing Fraud Prevention and Friction in Insurance Identity Verification \nAs identity-based fraud continues to rise across the U.S. life insurance industry\, firms face a critical challenge: strengthening fraud controls without introducing unnecessary friction that frustrates customers\, agents\, and partners. The margin for error is shrinking—too much friction drives abandonment and service costs\, while too little exposes insurers to financial loss\, compliance risk\, and reputational damage. \nDuring the webinar\, CEFLI Affiliate Member Deloitte discussed how life insurers are re-thinking identity verification and advanced authentication to achieve a risk-based balance between security and customer/agent experience. The session also explored why now is a pivotal moment to modernize identity capabilities\, and how leading organizations are aligning the right people\, processes\, and technologies to apply controls dynamically based on risk\, context\, and behavior. The event offered practical insights into: \n\nReducing identity fraud while minimizing customer and agent friction\nApplying adaptive authentication across onboarding\, claims\, servicing\, and digital self-service\nBuilding an operating model that supports scalable\, compliant\, and customer-centric identity decisions\n\nPresentation | Recording \n

SUMMARY:Guidehouse– Quantum Computing & the Future of Data Security
DESCRIPTION:“Quantum Computing & the Future of Data Security: Preparing Insurance for the Post-Quantum Era” \nQuantum computing is rapidly evolving and poses a significant challenge to current cryptographic standards that protect sensitive insurance data.  This webinar introduced the foundational principles of quantum computing and explored its potential to break widely used encryption methods. \nCEFLI Affiliate Member Guidehouse and Dr. Murthy Rallapalli\, an international authority on Quantum Computing and Quantum Safe\, discussed the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) initiative and highlighted the algorithms being standardized for a quantum-resilient future.  Attendees gained actionable insights into how insurance organizations can begin preparing their infrastructure to safeguard confidential data against quantum-era threats. \nThe link to a recent whitepaper on this topic is included here. \nPresentation Deck  | Recording

SUMMARY:MIB- Data-Driven Compliance - Data-Driven Compliance - Leveraging New Contributory Industry Data to Detect Agent Behavior Patterns
DESCRIPTION:Data-Driven Compliance – Leveraging New Contributory Industry Data to Detect Agent Behavior Patterns \nFraud and misrepresentation pose a significant financial burden on the insurance industry.  When adding up the cost of extra commissions\, excess mortality experience\, and the potential for fines in the case of adverse agent behavior – insurers can quickly see how costly anti-selective behavior can be. \nA recent analysis of data in the MIB In Force Data Vault – the industry’s first contributory database with applicant-level in force\, applied for and terminated policy data – augmented by interviews with industry experts\, provides insights into the impact of anti-selective behavior on the life insurance industry.  Christie Corado and Trey Robinson shared details about the impact of adverse agent practices\, such as stacking and churning\, and understand tools available to spot these behavior patterns – both during the underwriting process and by compliance post-issue. \nPresentation | Recording
